Over/Under Hockey Betting

When betting on hockey, a fan of the sport can bet on the actual outcome of the game or they can place a bet on the total score. When betting on the total score, it is known as over-under betting. Essentially, when betting on the over-under of a hockey game, you are placing a wager on whether the score will be over a certain total or below it. The goals from each teams in the game are added together to come up with the final score. If the sum of the two team’s goals is above the set mark, the game has gone over. If the sum of the goals falls below the set mark, then the game is considered to be under. In the event the total is exactly that which the over/under line has been set, then the bet is considered a push.

When betting the over-under, one must set up a betting account at a reputable Internet sports betting site that accepts hockey bets. Additionally, one must make a deposit into their hockey betting account by using a bank card, a credit card, an e-wallet account, or by making a wire transfer. After the hockey betting account has been funded, simply look for a hockey game to bet on. Each hockey game that is available to bet on is listed in the Internet sports book line. A sample hockey odds will look like the following:

Detroit Red Wings – total goals scored 5 1/2 (+105)o

Chicago Blackhawks – (-125)u

This line is the over-under line for the Wings – Hawks game. The over-under is set at 5.5 goals. This means the over comes in if more than 5.5 goals are scored. If less than 5.5 goals are scored, then the under comes in. Because there are not half goals in hockey, there cannot be a push in this bet. If betting the over, you will notice a positive number. In over-under betting, positive numbers reflect the amount of money that will be won if that bet comes in. The number is based on a $100 bet. This means that if you bet the over in this hockey game and it wins, you will win $105 for every $100 wagered. On the other hand, if you bet the under, you will notice a negative number associated with the under total in this hockey game. In over-under betting, negative numbers reflect the amount of money that must be bet in order to win $100. Thus, it takes a $125 bet on the under total to win $100 on the bet.
